Susie's background
Susie holds a BA in English Literature and a First Class Honours degree in Australian Literature from the University of Sydney. After time living in New York and London (where she was a reader for The Penguin Group), she worked as a substantive fiction editor for many of Australia’s notable publishing houses. She subsequently opened a small art gallery (specializing in works on paper) before embracing a writing career.

Susie grew up in a family home filled with modern and contemporary art. She’s lived in London, Manhattan & regional NSW. In the last few years she’s travelled widely: to Beijing, Berlin, Big Sur, Broome, Calcutta, Ceduna, Darjeeling, Darwin, Egypt, Esperance, Key West, Koyasan, Margaret River, Miami, Naoshima, New York, Paris, Perth, Sabah, Samoa, Tahiti, Tasmania, Thailand, Toyko and more.

Susie’s key areas of expertise are modern and contemporary art, modern and contemporary literature, 20th & 21st Century design and interiors, and narrative travel writing of all kinds, from grand city hotels to outback roadtrips. She’s an accomplished researcher and enjoys the challenge of personal profiles and interviews.

Other interests are fashion, music, theatre, dance, photography, natural history and stargazing. Skills include aviation, horseriding, sailing.
